    D. Tollen's test

    • Tollen's reagent oxidizes aldehydes, so acetaldehyde gives the test.

    E. Clemmensen reduction

    • Clemmensen reduction reduces carbonyl compounds (aldehydes and ketones) to hydrocarbons using \ceZn(Hg)/HCl\ce{Zn(Hg)/HCl}\ceZn(Hg)/HCl.
