  1. Recall the idea of acidic oxide

Acidic oxides are generally non-metal oxides that react with water to form acids or react with bases to form salt and water.

(i) N2O3\mathrm{N_2O_3}N2​O3​

It is the anhydride of nitrous acid: N2O3+H2O→2HNO2\mathrm{N_2O_3 + H_2O \rightarrow 2HNO_2}N2​O3​+H2​O→2HNO2​ So, N2O3\mathrm{N_2O_3}N2​O3​ is acidic.

(ii) NO2\mathrm{NO_2}NO2​

It gives acids with water: 2NO2+H2O→HNO2+HNO3\mathrm{2NO_2 + H_2O \rightarrow HNO_2 + HNO_3}2NO2​+H2​O→HNO2​+HNO3​ Hence NO2\mathrm{NO_2}NO2​ is acidic oxide.

(iii) N2O\mathrm{N_2O}N2​O

This is a neutral oxide.

(iv) Cl2O7\mathrm{Cl_2O_7}Cl2​O7​

It is the anhydride of perchloric acid: Cl2O7+H2O→2HClO4\mathrm{Cl_2O_7 + H_2O \rightarrow 2HClO_4}Cl2​O7​+H2​O→2HClO4​ So it is acidic.

(v) SO2\mathrm{SO_2}SO2​

It forms sulphurous acid with water: SO2+H2O→H2SO3\mathrm{SO_2 + H_2O \rightarrow H_2SO_3}SO2​+H2​O→H2​SO3​ So SO2\mathrm{SO_2}SO2​ is acidic.

(vi) CO\mathrm{CO}CO

This is a neutral oxide.

(vii) CaO\mathrm{CaO}CaO

This is a basic oxide.

(viii) Na2O\mathrm{Na_2O}Na2​O

This is a basic oxide.

(ix) NO\mathrm{NO}NO

This is a neutral oxide.
