The reaction between iodide and persulphate ions is:

S2O82−+2I−→I2+2SO42−\mathrm{S_2O_8^{2-} + 2I^- \rightarrow I_2 + 2SO_4^{2-}}S2​O82−​+2I−→I2​+2SO42−​

Here:

  • I−\mathrm{I^-}I− is oxidised to I2\mathrm{I_2}I2​
  • S2O82−\mathrm{S_2O_8^{2-}}S2​O82−​ is reduced to SO42−\mathrm{SO_4^{2-}}SO42−​

2Fe3++2I−→2Fe2++I22\mathrm{Fe^{3+}} + 2\mathrm{I^-} \rightarrow 2\mathrm{Fe^{2+}} + \mathrm{I_2}2Fe3++2I−→2Fe2++I2​

So statement A is correct:

  • A. Fe3+\mathrm{Fe^{3+}}Fe3+ oxidises the iodide ion ✅
  1. Now Fe2+\mathrm{Fe^{2+}}Fe2+ formed must be converted back to Fe3+\mathrm{Fe^{3+}}Fe3+

Persulphate is a strong oxidising agent, so it oxidises Fe2+\mathrm{Fe^{2+}}Fe2+ to Fe3+\mathrm{Fe^{3+}}Fe3+. Therefore Fe2+\mathrm{Fe^{2+}}Fe2+ reduces persulphate:

S2O82−+2Fe2+→2SO42−+2Fe3+\mathrm{S_2O_8^{2-} + 2Fe^{2+} \rightarrow 2SO_4^{2-} + 2Fe^{3+}}S2​O82−​+2Fe2+→2SO42−​+2Fe3+

So statement D is correct:
