  2. Assign charges of ligands

    • H2OH_2OH2​O is a neutral ligand.
    • In the brown ring complex, the nitrosyl ligand NONONO is treated as NO+NO^+NO+ (linear nitrosyl ligand).
  3. Let oxidation state of Fe be xxx

    Total charge on the complex is +2+2+2.

    So, x+5(0)+(+1)=+2x + 5(0) + (+1) = +2x+5(0)+(+1)=+2

    x+1=2x + 1 = 2x+1=2

    x=+1x = +1x=+1

  4. Therefore
