For the reaction

H2(g)+I2(g)⇌2HI(g)\mathrm{H_2(g)}+\mathrm{I_2(g)}\rightleftharpoons 2\mathrm{HI(g)}H2​(g)+I2​(g)⇌2HI(g)

we have

  1. Use the given information about the gas mixture

The cylinder contains equal number of molecules of H2\mathrm{H_2}H2​, I2\mathrm{I_2}I2​ and HI\mathrm{HI}HI.

Hence their mole numbers are equal, so their mole fractions are equal:
