NEETPhysicsMagnetism and MatterMCQ+4 / −1
Two bar magnets having same geometry with magnetic moments M and 2M, are firstly placed in such a way that their similar poles are same side then its time period of oscillation is T1. Now the polarity of one of the magnet is reversed then time period of oscillation is T2, then
  1. A
    T1 < T2
  2. B
    T1 = T2
  3. C
    T1 > T2
  4. D
    T2 = ∞\infty∞

Correct answer: A

Time period, T = 2πIMB2\pi \sqrt {{I \over {MB}}} 2πMBI

∴\therefore∴ T ∝\propto∝ 1M{1 \over {\sqrt M }}M1

M1 =2M + M = 3M

M2 = 2M – M = M

T1T2=M3M=13{{{T_1}} \over {{T_2}}} = \sqrt {{M \over {3M}}} = {1 \over {\sqrt 3 }}T2T1=3MM=31

⇒\Rightarrow⇒ T2 = 3T{\sqrt 3 T}3T

∴\therefore∴ T1 <\lt < T2
