  1. Use Bohr model speed formula

    For a hydrogen-like atom, the speed of the electron in the nnnth orbit is vn=Zαcnv_n = \frac{Z\alpha c}{n}vn​=nZαc​ where:

    • ZZZ = atomic number
    • nnn = orbit number
    • α\alphaα = fine structure constant

    Hence, vn∝Znv_n \propto \frac{Z}{n}vn​∝nZ​

  2. For He+\mathrm{He}^+He+ in the 3rd orbit

    Helium ion He+\mathrm{He}^+He+ is hydrogen-like with Z=2,n=3Z=2, \quad n=3Z=2,n=3 So, vHe+∝23v_{\mathrm{He}^+} \propto \frac{2}{3}vHe+​∝32​

  3. For hydrogen atom in the 3rd orbit

    For hydrogen, Z=1,n=3Z=1, \quad n=3Z=1,n=3 So, vH∝13v_{\mathrm{H}} \propto \frac{1}{3}vH​∝31​

  4. Take the ratio

    vHe+vH=2/31/3=2\frac{v_{\mathrm{He}^+}}{v_{\mathrm{H}}} = \frac{2/3}{1/3} = 2vH​vHe+​​=1/32/3​=2

    Therefore, the required ratio is 2:12:12:1
