Correct answer: D

  1. Use de-Broglie relation

    According to de-Broglie wave-particle duality,

    λ=hp\lambda = \frac{h}{p}λ=ph

    where:

    • λ\lambdaλ = wavelength of electron
    • ppp = momentum of electron
    • hhh = Planck's constant
  2. Understand the relation between λ\lambdaλ and ppp

    Since

    λ∝1p\lambda \propto \frac{1}{p}λ∝p1

    wavelength is inversely proportional to momentum.

  3. Nature of the graph

    The graph of

    λ=hp\lambda = \frac{h}{p}λ=ph

    is a rectangular hyperbola in the first quadrant:

    • as ppp increases, λ\lambdaλ decreases,
    • it does not form a straight line,
    • it approaches both axes asymptotically.
  4. Choose the correct plot

    Therefore, the correct graph must show an inverse relation between λ\lambdaλ and ppp.

    Hence, Option D is the most appropriate.

  5. Comparison with stored answer

    Stored correct answer = D

    Derived answer = D

    So, they match.
