We need the mass of CO2\text{CO}_2CO2​ formed on complete combustion.

  1. Mass of carbon in the compound

Since the compound contains 60%60\%60% carbon,

mC=0.5×60100=0.3 gm_C = 0.5 \times \frac{60}{100} = 0.3\,\text{g}mC​=0.5×10060​=0.3g

  1. Convert carbon to carbon dioxide

On complete combustion, all carbon becomes CO2\text{CO}_2CO2​.

Molar mass relation:

12 g of C→44 g of CO212\,\text{g of C} \rightarrow 44\,\text{g of CO}_212g of C→44g of CO2​

So,
