  1. Check statement (i): Manganese exhibits +7+7+7 oxidation state in its oxide.

    Manganese forms the oxide Mn2O7\mathrm{Mn_2O_7}Mn2​O7​.

    Let oxidation state of Mn be xxx: 2x+7(−2)=02x + 7(-2)=02x+7(−2)=0 2x−14=02x-14=02x−14=0 x=+7x=+7x=+7

    So, statement (i) is correct.

  2. Check statement (ii): Ruthenium and Osmium exhibit +8+8+8 oxidation state in their oxides.

    Ruthenium forms RuO4\mathrm{RuO_4}RuO4​ and osmium forms OsO4\mathrm{OsO_4}OsO4​.

    For RuO4\mathrm{RuO_4}RuO4​: x+4(−2)=0⇒x=+8x+4(-2)=0 \Rightarrow x=+8x+4(−2)=0⇒x=+8

    For OsO4\mathrm{OsO_4}OsO4​: x+4(−2)=0⇒x=+8x+4(-2)=0 \Rightarrow x=+8x+4(−2)=0⇒x=+8

  3. Check statement (iii): Sc shows +4+4+4 oxidation state which is oxidizing in nature.

    Scandium generally shows the oxidation state +3+3+3. The +4+4+4 oxidation state is not shown by Sc in normal chemistry of transition elements.

    Therefore, statement (iii) is incorrect.

  4. Check statement (iv): Cr shows oxidising nature in +6+6+6 oxidation state.

    Chromium in +6+6+6 oxidation state occurs in species like CrO42−\mathrm{CrO_4^{2-}}CrO42−​ and Cr2O72−\mathrm{Cr_2O_7^{2-}}Cr2​O72−​. These are well-known oxidizing agents, especially in acidic medium.
