Correct answer: C

  1. Concept used

    The work done against gravity depends only on the change in vertical height, not on the path followed.

    W=mghW = mghW=mgh

    where:

    • m=50 kgm = 50\,\mathrm{kg}m=50kg
    • h=20 mh = 20\,\mathrm{m}h=20m
    • ggg is acceleration due to gravity
  2. Case 1

    The body is lifted from the ground to a height of 20 m20\,\mathrm{m}20m.

    So, work done against gravity is

    W1=mgh=50⋅g⋅20W_1 = mgh = 50 \cdot g \cdot 20W1=mgh=50⋅g⋅20

  3. Case 2

    Even if the body is taken through a different path, the final vertical rise is still 20 m20\,\mathrm{m}20m.

    Hence,

    W2=mgh=50⋅g⋅20W_2 = mgh = 50 \cdot g \cdot 20W2=mgh=50⋅g⋅20

  4. Ratio of work done

    W1:W2=mgh:mgh=1:1W_1 : W_2 = mgh : mgh = 1 : 1W1:W2=mgh:mgh=1:1

  5. Option check

    • A: 2:12:12:1 ❌
    • B: 3:2\sqrt{3}:23:2 ❌
    • C: 1:11:11:1 ✅
    • D: 1:21:21:2 ❌

Therefore, the correct answer is:

1:1\boxed{1:1}1:1
