Correct answer: 30

  1. Let the initial amount of starting material be 100100100 units.

  2. Reaction I has percentage yield 60%60\%60%. So, product formed after reaction I: 100×60100=60100 \times \frac{60}{100} = 60100×10060=60 units.

  3. Reaction II has percentage yield 50%50\%50%. This acts on the product obtained from reaction I. So, final product formed: 60×50100=3060 \times \frac{50}{100} = 3060×10050=30 units.

  4. Therefore, the overall yield is: 30100×100=30%\frac{30}{100} \times 100 = 30\%10030×100=30%

  5. Equivalently, overall yield is the product of the fractional yields: 0.60×0.50=0.30=30%0.60 \times 0.50 = 0.30 = 30\%0.60×0.50=0.30=30%

Hence, the overall yield of the complete reaction is: 30%\boxed{30\%}30%
