  1. Given equation

    y=2asin⁡(2πntλ)cos⁡(2πxλ)y = 2a \sin\left(\frac{2\pi nt}{\lambda}\right) \cos\left(\frac{2\pi x}{\lambda}\right)y=2asin(λ2πnt​)cos(λ2πx​)

  2. Use the rule for arguments of trigonometric functions

    The arguments of sin⁡\sinsin and cos⁡\coscos must be dimensionless.

    So, 2πntλ is dimensionless\frac{2\pi nt}{\lambda} \text{ is dimensionless}λ2πnt​ is dimensionless and 2πxλ is dimensionless\frac{2\pi x}{\lambda} \text{ is dimensionless}λ2πx​ is dimensionless

    Since 2π2\pi2π is dimensionless, we get: ntλ is dimensionless\frac{nt}{\lambda} \text{ is dimensionless}λnt​ is dimensionless and xλ is dimensionless\frac{x}{\lambda} \text{ is dimensionless}λx​ is dimensionless

  3. From xλ\dfrac{x}{\lambda}λx​ dimensionless

    [x]=[λ]=[L][x] = [\lambda] = [L][x]=[λ]=[L]

    So option C is correct.

  4. From ntλ\dfrac{nt}{\lambda}λnt​ dimensionless

    [nt]=[λ]=[L][nt] = [\lambda] = [L][nt]=[λ]=[L]

    So option A is correct.

  5. Find dimensions of nnn

    Since [nt]=[L][nt] = [L][nt]=[L] and [t]=[T][t] = [T][t]=[T], [n]=[L][T]=[LT−1][n] = \frac{[L]}{[T]} = [LT^{-1}][n]=[T][L]​=[LT−1]

    So option B is correct.

  6. Find dimensions of nλ\dfrac{n}{\lambda}λn​

    [nλ]=[LT−1][L]=[T−1]\left[\frac{n}{\lambda}\right] = \frac{[LT^{-1}]}{[L]} = [T^{-1}][λn​]=[L][LT−1]​=[T−1]

    But option D says the dimensions of nλ\dfrac{n}{\lambda}λn​ is [T][T][T], which is wrong.
