Correct answer: A

  1. Key properties of a diamagnetic material

    For a diamagnetic substance:

    • Magnetization is opposite to the applied field.
    • Hence magnetic susceptibility is negative and very small.
    • The relation is M=χHM = \chi HM=χH with χ<0.\chi < 0.χ<0.
    • Also, for diamagnetic substances, susceptibility is almost independent of temperature.
  2. Identify the correct MMM vs HHH graph

Since M=χH,M = \chi H,M=χH, and for diamagnetic material χ<0,\chi < 0,χ<0, the graph of MMM vs HHH must be a straight line through origin with negative slope.

Among the given plots, this corresponds to graph (a).

  3. Identify the correct χ\chiχ vs TTT graph

    For diamagnetic material, susceptibility is:

    • negative, and
    • nearly constant with temperature.

So the χ\chiχ vs TTT graph should be a horizontal line below the temperature axis. This corresponds to graph (c).

  4. Match with the options

Thus the correct combination for a diamagnetic material is: (a),(c)\boxed{(a), (c)}(a),(c)

    This is Option A.

  5. Comparison with stored answer

    Stored correct answer = A.

Our derived answer also = A.

    Hence, the answers agree.
