The first 505050 even natural numbers are:

2,4,6,…,1002,4,6,\dots,1002,4,6,…,100

This is an arithmetic progression with:

  • first term a=2a=2a=2
  • common difference d=2d=2d=2
  • number of terms n=50n=50n=50

These numbers can be written as:

xi=2i(i=1,2,…,50)x_i = 2i \quad (i=1,2,\dots,50)xi​=2i(i=1,2,…,50)

If we know the variance of 1,2,3,…,n1,2,3,\dots,n1,2,3,…,n, then multiplying every term by 222 multiplies the variance by 22=42^2=422=4.

Var⁡(1,2,3,…,n)=n2−112\operatorname{Var}(1,2,3,\dots,n)=\frac{n^2-1}{12}Var(1,2,3,…,n)=12n2−1​

For n=50n=50n=50,
