  1. Meaning of 3rd ionisation enthalpy

    The 3rd ionisation enthalpy is the energy required for: M2+→M3++e−M^{2+} \rightarrow M^{3+} + e^-M2+→M3++e−

    So, we must compare the stability of the M2+M^{2+}M2+ ions of the given transition metals. The more stable M2+M^{2+}M2+ is, the more difficult it is to remove the third electron, and hence the higher the 3rd ionisation enthalpy.

  2. Write electronic configurations

    Atomic configurations:
