Gobar gas is a gas mixture which is generated when organic compounds are fermented in the absence of air (anaerobic fermentation). Biogas contains 50% – 70% methane, 30% – 40% carbon dioxide, and traces of hydrogen, hydrogen sulphide and nitrogen. Methane is a combustible gas, which means it can be burned.
