  1. A
    2 T
  2. B
    4 T

Correct answer: A

  1. Magnetic field at the centre of a circular coil

For a coil of NNN turns and radius RRR, carrying current III, the magnetic field at the centre is

B=μ0NI2RB = \frac{\mu_0 N I}{2R}B=2Rμ0NI
  1. Initial coil

Initially, the coil has:

  • number of turns N1=4N_1 = 4N1=4
  • magnetic field at centre B1=32 TB_1 = 32\,\text{T}B1=32T

So,

B1=μ0N1I2R1=μ0(4)I2R1B_1 = \frac{\mu_0 N_1 I}{2R_1} = \frac{\mu_0 (4) I}{2R_1}B1=2R1μ0N1I=2R1μ0(4)I
  1. Relation between radii after rewinding

The wire length remains the same.

If the initial 4-turn coil has radius R1R_1R1, total wire length is

L=4(2πR1)=8πR1L = 4(2\pi R_1) = 8\pi R_1L=4(2πR1)=8πR1

After rewinding into a single turn of radius R2R_2R2,

L=2πR2L = 2\pi R_2L=2πR2

Equating both:

2πR2=8πR12\pi R_2 = 8\pi R_12πR2=8πR1 R2=4R1R_2 = 4R_1R2=4R1
  1. Magnetic field in the new single-turn coil

Now N2=1N_2 = 1N2=1 and R2=4R1R_2 = 4R_1R2=4R1.

Thus,

B2=μ0N2I2R2=μ0I2(4R1)=μ0I8R1B_2 = \frac{\mu_0 N_2 I}{2R_2} = \frac{\mu_0 I}{2(4R_1)} = \frac{\mu_0 I}{8R_1}B2=2R2μ0N2I=2(4R1)μ0I=8R1μ0I

Compare with initial field:

B1=4μ0I2R1=2μ0IR1B_1 = \frac{4\mu_0 I}{2R_1} = \frac{2\mu_0 I}{R_1}B1=2R14μ0I=R12μ0I

Therefore,

B2B1=μ0I/(8R1)2μ0I/R1=116\frac{B_2}{B_1} = \frac{\mu_0 I/(8R_1)}{2\mu_0 I/R_1} = \frac{1}{16}B1B2=2μ0I/R1μ0I/(8R1)=161

So,

B2=B116=3216=2 TB_2 = \frac{B_1}{16} = \frac{32}{16} = 2\,\text{T}B2=16B1=1632=2T
  1. Option check
  • A: 2 T2\,\text{T}2T ✅
  • B: 4 T4\,\text{T}4T ❌
  • C: 8 T8\,\text{T}8T ❌
  • D: 16 T16\,\text{T}16T ❌

Hence, the correct answer is A.
