Correct answer: D

  1. For a semiconductor, the number of charge carriers increases rapidly with temperature.

  2. Hence, conductivity σ\sigmaσ increases with temperature.

  3. Since resistivity is the reciprocal of conductivity,

ρ=1σ\rho = \frac{1}{\sigma}ρ=σ1

so resistivity ρ\rhoρ decreases as temperature increases.

  1. Therefore, the correct ρ\rhoρ vs TTT graph must show a decreasing trend with increasing temperature.

  2. Among the given options, the curve that represents this behaviour is Option D.

Final Answer

For a semiconductor,

ρ↓ as T↑\rho \downarrow \text{ as } T \uparrowρ↓ as T↑

So the correct graph is D.
