Each mole of CO2\mathrm{CO_2}CO2​ contains 111 mole of carbon.

Molar mass of CO2\mathrm{CO_2}CO2​: 44 g mol−144\,\text{g mol}^{-1}44g mol−1

Mass of carbon in 444444 g of CO2\mathrm{CO_2}CO2​ is 121212 g.

So, mass of carbon in 1.461.461.46 g of CO2\mathrm{CO_2}CO2​ is Mass of C=1.46×1244\text{Mass of C} = 1.46 \times \frac{12}{44}Mass of C=1.46×4412​ =1.46×311= 1.46 \times \frac{3}{11}=1.46×113​ =0.398 g= 0.398\,\text{g}=0.398g
