Mesityl oxide is the aldol condensation product of acetone. Its structure is:

CH3−CO−CH=C(CH3)2\text{CH}_3-CO-CH=C(\text{CH}_3)_2CH3​−CO−CH=C(CH3​)2​

More clearly, it can also be written as:

CH3−CO−CH=C(CH3)−CH3\text{CH}_3-CO-CH=C(\text{CH}_3)-\text{CH}_3CH3​−CO−CH=C(CH3​)−CH3​

Its molecular formula is indeed C6H10OC_6H_{10}OC6​H10​O.
