  1. Interpret the assertion

    Assertion A states:

    • pKa\mathrm{p}K_apKa​ of phenol =10.0= 10.0=10.0
    • pKa\mathrm{p}K_apKa​ of ethanol =15.9= 15.9=15.9

    These are standard approximate values and are correct.

    So, Assertion A is true.

  2. Use the meaning of pKa\mathrm{p}K_apKa​

    Recall:

    • Lower pKa\mathrm{p}K_apKa​ means stronger acid.
    • Higher pKa\mathrm{p}K_apKa​ means weaker acid.
